White Point State Beach, CA

When the temp is scorching, it’s time to head to one of SoCal’s cool beaches. On this jaunt to the coast, it was White Point Beach. This beach has a colorful history from its discovery by Spanish explorers around 1770. It has been a Spanish colony, a private land grant concession, a cattle ranch. a lobster and abalone harvest site, and a popular hot springs resort. There are twelve brass plaques throughout the bluff that describe the area’s rich history. In 1978, White Point Beach became part of LA County’s “Federal Lands to Parks” program. A new park complex was dedicated on the site on June 5, 1997. Today it is a great place for a family outing with metered parking, ample restrooms, children’s play area, picnic tables and of course, the outstanding panoramic view.
