A Beacon of the Past

Old Point Loma Lighthouse

San Diego, CA

From 1855 to 1891, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse guided the way into San Diego Bay. However, due to the fog and low clouds which often obscured the light, a new lighthouse was constructed closer to the water at the tip of the Point. The National Park Service has refurbished the old lighthouse to create a special place to step back in time (www.sandiego.gov). On this warm and overcast day, light attire provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat at this picturesque park.
