San Diego Skyline

Island Adventure

Coronado Island, CA

From Coronado Island, you get a spectacular view of the San Diego skyline. Getting to Coronado is a short drive across the beautiful San Diego-Coronado Bridge. You can also take a ferry or water taxi across The Big Bay or drive across the seven-mile Silver Strand Peninsula. Which ever way you get there, it’s a treat for your eyes with its beautiful clear water and friendly beach town atmosphere. This January day was a bit chilly, but still enjoyable.

It Never Rains in Southern California

Rain Ready

Dos Lagos Corona, CA

Southern California is finally getting some rain. It’s a welcome event even though it can cause some damage like mudslides, sinkholes, driving mishaps and just plain getting wet . We are not accustomed to carrying rain gear like umbrellas and raincoats, let alone rain boots. So when it rains it’s a big inconvenience. Never mind that we need the rain.

ATTIRE: Sweater and T-shirt (JC Penney), black corduroy boot cut pants (J. Jill), Ralph Lauren raincoat (Macy’s), umbrella and bucket hat (Walmart), black leather tennis shoes (Ecco Shoes)

Winter Wilderness

Exploring

Our neighborhood is recovering from the Holy Fire of August 2018. There is a lot of growth occurring in the areas that were hit by the fire. Recovery is continuously ongoing. Nature finds a way to heal itself. This outing gave us a chance to witness the growth.

ATTIRE: Green sweater and boot-cut jeans (LOFT), red scarf (gift from a friend), boots (Naturalizer)

Winter Is Coming!

SoCal Chill

Corona, CA

When the temperature dips below 70° in Southern California, it’s BRRRR weather! So after the sizzling summer and the falling temps of autumn, it’s time to search your wardrobe for warmer attire. Bring out the jackets, sweaters and boots because “Baby, it’s cold out there!”

ATTIRE: Black three-quarter sleeve jacket (Macy’s), Ann Taylor geometric skirt (Goodwill Thrift Stores), black V-neck sweater top (LOFT) and Italian boots (purchased in Rome)

Happy Thanksgiving

Count Your Blessings

Corona, CA

Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the scents and the gathering together with family and friends. It is a time to be grateful and count our blessings. So, as my husband and I prepare to welcome a small group of relatives and friends, the mood is set to celebrate the season of thanks.

You cannot go wrong with a white shirt/tee and jeans. You can accessorize with a belt, jewelry and your choice of jacket. Shoe options are limitless! I choose to wear comfortable black leather tennis shoes. So get these versatile items out and begin creating the “perfect match.”

Tea Time

First Methodist Church

Riverside, CA

The annual PEO Reciprocity Bureau Social is always is good time to connect with other chapters throughout the Inland Empire. This year, Chapter KE hosts the event. The members put together a wonderful traditional tea. So, in my “romantic” attire, I am ready to host and enjoy!

ATTIRE: Lacy blouse and skirt (Coldwater Creek), Easy Spirit shoes (Poshmark)

Mah Jongg!

Chinese Proverb: Enjoy something and never tire of it.

Corona, CA

Playing mah jongg weekly is a fun activity for friends. We play the American version, but we also know the traditional Chinese game. While some may argue that 75% of the game is luck, there are strategic approaches that can override someone else’s good fortune and make you the winner. Today, wearing my Chinese good luck charms, I find out that chance is not always on my side, but my friends are!

Attire: Silky grey jacket (Coldwater Creek), floral top, red Marisa pants (LOFT), black ballet slippers (Clarks Shoes)

Halloween

Pumpkin Patch

Eastvale, CA

The anticipation of Halloween dominates the month of October. From the pumpkin patch, to the candy aisle in the store, to choosing just the right costume, October ushers in the celebration of autumn. On this crisp October afternoon, I enjoy choosing a candidate for a jack-o-lantern as I wander around the pumpkin patch dressed for the occasion.

ATTIRE: Halogen blazer (Poshmark), orange top (Chico’s), black jeans (LOFT), black leather tennis shoes (Vans)

Fall at the Beach

Sunset Cliffs

Ocean Beach, CA

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park’s intricate topography of bluffs, arches and sea caves stretches along the Pacific Ocean bordering the western edge of Point Loma. Known for its spectacular sunsets, this location is a “must” if you are in the San Diego area (www.gosandiego.com>parks). On an overcast fall day, I am dressed with a little extra warmth in mind.

ATTIRE: Faux suede moto jacket, floral blouse, jeans (LOFT), luggage tennis shoes (Ecco Shoes)

Token of Friendship

Angels Gate Park

San Pedro, CA

The Bell of Friendship, presented to the United States in 1976 by the South Korean government to commemorate our country’s bicentennial, is located in Angels Gate Park (www.angelsgateart.org). The bell is a symbol of friendship between the two countries. So what better way to show camaraderie than to wear attire featuring colors in the countries’ flags.

ATTIRE: Rafaella striped T-shirt dress (Sam’s Club), white leather tennis shoes (Ecco Shoes)

A Beacon of the Past

Old Point Loma Lighthouse

San Diego, CA

From 1855 to 1891, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse guided the way into San Diego Bay. However, due to the fog and low clouds which often obscured the light, a new lighthouse was constructed closer to the water at the tip of the Point. The National Park Service has refurbished the old lighthouse to create a special place to step back in time (www.sandiego.gov). On this warm and overcast day, light attire provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat at this picturesque park.

ATTIRE: Floral jacket (Coldwater Creek), striped top and skinny Riviera pants (LOFT)

Cheers!

Maurice Car’rie Vineyard

Temecula, CA

In August, we celebrate our anniversary on a Temecula Valley Cable Car Wine Tour, a gift from our daughter, Angela. We end our winery tour at Maurice Car’rie Vineyard, noted for the savory brie bread that is made there. It is rich, paired with the raspberry champagne. So what better outfit to wear than my vinous-colored wide leg trousers and floral top to compliment the bubbly spirits! For more information, go to www.temeculacablecar.com/
